My library day. I took notes, and it was a pretty quiet day so not hard to keep track….

Yesterday was a weird day, so decided not to try to do that one. Today probably won’t be the normal sort of day either but it might if the powers that be are serious about this abysmal budget that I may be able to start using tomorrow.

Got to work about 8:10 AM. Scratched head, tried to figure out how I got here so early. Am rather shocked.
checked email. Discuss budget with a boss. It’s bad alright.
9-10:30 Attended seminar re new Gale/Baker and Taylor e-book partnership. Will wait till bosses decide whether to buy or not. Grab Lucent/Greenhaven titles!
10:30-11:30 Checked circulation. Shook head over Vietnamese craft book located in J 305.8. Decided not worth bugging Catalog about this since book is pretty old and put on ever growing pile for Childrens’ Room clerk to withdraw some day. Soon, before pile is a danger to me in quake!
Lunch 11:30-12:30.
1-2 On ref desk. Mostly computer/internet “but I was here FIRST” disputes. Noisy today in Childrens’ Room. Two aides in succession mention how hot the area is today. I pant agreement.
2:15 Report burnt out light/fuse in staff bathroom for women.
2:40-3PM. Answer nice coworker’s plea for 15 minute break on ref desk. Still noisy, but beginning to quiet down a tad.
Spend rest of day checking J nonfiction and watching the clock and thinking I am NOT wearing warm clothes tomorrow!!!

My job officially is buying the J/YA nonfiction, but we haven’t been able to buy anything till today or tomorrow so I’ve been pushing on the circulation. We SHOULD be moving into the New Main in 3 years so we really should be getting rid of the ancient dingy stuff as well as low circulating stuff….be nice to get back to buying books.
